OPEN LECTURE ON THE TOPIC "EQUIPMENT AND TECHNOLOGIES FOR THE PREPARATION OF CANNED FEED" WAS HELD ON THE BASIS OF VNAU SCIENTIFIC RESEARCH FARM «AGRONOMICHNE»

On April 2, 2025, on the basis of the scientific research farm «AGRONOMICHNE» of Vinnytsia National Agrarian University, an open lecture was held for applicants for the TP «Technology of production and processing of livestock products», «Agronomy» of the faculties and college of VNAU on the topic «Equipment and technologies for the preparation of canned feed».

The lecture was conducted by the representative of «PÖTTINGER Ukraine» Volodymyr Mirnenko. The brand manager said that the Austrian family company «PÖTTINGER» was founded in 1871 and is the largest holding of agricultural engineering, has 3 factories, which are located in Austria, Germany and the Czech Republic. The company is engaged in hinged and trailed agricultural machinery that harvests fodder, cultivates soil and sows in more than 120 countries around the world, and is also successful all over the world.

Volodymyr Mirnenko, as a specialist in fodder harvesting and crop production of the PÖTTINGER company, introduced the students to the state-of-the-art technical assortment and innovative technologies in feed production.

Taking into consideration the fact that feed is the largest cost unit in the structure of the cost of milk production (60−70%), the quality of roughage is the most effective tool for managing the cost of milk. Therefore, the quality of roughage determines the maximum amount of feed that a cow can consume, and this determines the potential milk production.

The attention of the audience was focused on the technologies of harvesting canned feed and the modern assessment of the quality of roughage, in particular alfalfa silage (haylage), which is carried out by the content of crude protein, fiber (NDK-KDK-Lignin), crude ash and the quality of canning.

A state-of-the-art multipurpose rotary baler of a new generation "JUMBO" was presented to the applicants, which provides:
• higher slicing stability;
• higher bandwidth and higher download performance;
• higher mass density and lower transportation costs;
• minimal pressure on the soil and the most careful attitude to the turf;
• consistently sharp knives and uniquely short cuts.

The form of organization of students’ practical training in the form of guest lectures from practitioners of leading agricultural enterprises contributes to the formation of program learning outcomes and professional competencies of future industry specialists.

VNAU is grateful to its stakeholders for cooperation and development of Ukrainian agricultural education and science.
